“SAY SO by GJ” ~ ‘4 Behavior Styles That Need Coaching’ ~ 21Oct19.

Happy Monday (in mid-October 2019)

Well – here we are. In 90 days, we will be in mid-January 2020. Yes – 2020!! Are you ready for the coming decade? Have you thought about Coaching? Mentoring? What do you need? Why? Are you on track with your goals? Are you working at your optimum pace and enjoying good relations with your co-workers and your family.

Are you working from your strengths? Your strength might be that of self-confidence, taking charge; or, accuracy in analysis of a project; or, exhibting patience and a calm approach to a situation; or, enthusiatic optimism for the your work or family team.

Do you feel that you work more from your weaknesses? Afraid to be wrong and thus do not sharing your opinion. Afraid of social rejection and being left out. Think you will lose control if you let others participate. Or, you fear change and loss of harmony. Therefore, your input is seldom acknowledged or used.

Knowing your behavior style and being coached to work from your strengths; to recognize other’s styles, so you can communicate more effectively … is priceless.

How does the quiet, reserved person speak their mind/share information to the forceful manager? Would the direct, sometimes insensitive person, be received warmly by the humble, patient and calm worker? Is the analyst ignored when they try to share their findings that all may not be well in the organization?

We all bring something to the table. But, we are more willing to share our gifts and talents when we are respected and can feel a level of comrodary within our group; be it at work or at home.

This is why working from your strengths is the better option. But, you have to intermix with other in your space. How to best do this so everyone has a reasonably pleasant experience? By knowing your behavior style and being able to recognize the style of those around you. Short-term coaching is for you!

I have two offers for you: one is to purchase your behavior assessment {4 behavior styles: direct; impact; stabilizing; and careful/correct} and after completion – read your (approximate 20 page) report; and I will provide a 15 minute review via a phone consultation call. *Please use this link or go to my website and click on link to schedule an appointment. Or, feeling the need for accountability and a deeper dive – we can set up a 3-month coaching arrangement. You might want to, also, want to take the time management assessment to determine your level of competence (if in a coaching arrangement – I help you work on your top 3 priority areas that you determine). You will also have a report that gives you an overview of the 12 ‘time’ categories {attitudes, goals, priorities, analyzing, planning, scheduling, interruptions, meetings, written communications, delegation, procrastination, and team time}; shares Key Concepts for each; and, an area to draft your action plan. You will receive a ranking in the one of the 5 levels of time management. Please email me (click here) to get any questions answered regarding Coaching. Let’s make 2020 your best yet!!

What is YOUR Mission Statement? Yes – YOUR personal mission statement for YOU; You and your family; and/or – You and your business?

The framework of your statement will take a little thought to focus in on your dreams, goals, and desires. Even government agencies have a 3 specific, purposed mission statement for their specific agency about their agency’s function.

Some may not be aware ~ My ‘BLOG subject’ is determined from my weekly Instagram (7-day themed time management/efficiency) tips. You are invited to follow me on Instagram; LinkedIn; Twitter; or Pinterest. Click here –> at the top of my website are the 4 social media symbols.

Begin your formulation with these questions:

  • 1. With your legacy in mind – what is your goal/focus for your life?
  • 2. Who do you want to assist and pour value into – for their life and circumstances?
  • 3. How will you do what needs to be done, ultimately, for others betterment?

My Mission Statement is: “With Divine Guidance ~ complete the relevant items within my personal and professional life competently {God, Family, and Business Endeavors} to the best of my ability”. Is30:15; Mt11:28; and Ps116:6-7

Let be sure we are giving our purposed goals their best foundation; so, I will share three books I highly recommend; have read and reread.

You need building blocks to help you survive the ups and downs of life, work and your pursuits of happiness. Take what you read and make it your own. Then, implement and make necessary ‘course’ corrections – so, you will want to do it and succeed with your goals!

  1. Foundation: Essentialism by Greg McKeown
  2. Building Block: Getting Things Done (GTD) by David Allen

Set YOURSELF To Succeed (Goals Blog 2)

Set YOURSELF To Succeed

Welcome back!!  This is Gloria-Jean Brown, your guide to time management efficiency – on YOUR terms.

To succeed you need a plan for what you want to accomplish.  Then, you break those plans into workable goals that you can accomplish – your way.  We all have different exterior concerns that vie for our time.  Some of us are entrepreneurs; some are students; some are Moms with 2 or more children; some are retired  — point is, we all have other interest and concerns. Where do you find time for you to do you?  You have to create the time – in steps.  You may even have to give up some things, temporarily to accomplish your goals.  You may need to partner with someone to accomplish your goals.

Until you determine what you want; and how you intend to accomplish this journey – you are not going anywhere.  Start with your pen.  Writing is powerful.  You may not achieve your goals as you initially intended; but, they will be attained. You will just have to adjust your steps based on life events.  Step by step … then, AND SUDDENLY – you have arrived.

You need to make S.M.A.R.T work for you. (especially “R“):

  1. Specific
  2. Measurable
  3. Achievable
  4. Realistic
  5. Timed

Your goal is something that you want, that you can control.  You are totally responsible for the accomplishing.  Click for your Goal Setting Sheet.

Be specific in what you want to attain:  take a course; paint a picture; write a book; seek a promotion at work; save for retirement.

What measurable time do you have to devote to your goal?  An hour a day; Saturdays; 2 evenings a week, if you don’t play softball. Pay off some bills, so you can start to save that money.

Is it achievable? It is 1 November and you want to lose 30 pounds by Thanksgiving (coming in 24+ days) – this is probably not achievable in this time frame! Perhaps you need to start a weight-loss program in September?  You need 3-5 more courses for your degree to be eligible for promotion consideration – you probably can’t achieve this in 2-3 months. You can sign up for courses mow and be ready for next year’s promotion cycle.

Realistic – you must always build in extra time for the unexpected.  Have you had a full day of activities planned; going here – going there; stop here; run in there – what will a flat tire do to your plans?  Can you change the tire?  Will you get dirty?   Will you have to wait for assistance to arrive?  You are on the train or a plane – someone sneezes – few days later you have the flu!!  What of your plan(s) when you have fever and all your muscles ache.  Know where you are going; but, leave extra time to get there.  Don’t be so worn out that you can not enjoy the journey.

Timed – simply; put a date on it!!  An achievable, realistic date.  You can always adjust it if necessary.  You may finish your steps early.  You may need to add a task or two to your plans – it is OKAY!

There are any number of technological applications to assist you in accomplishing everything from stop smoking, to project management, to organizing your office or home, to running for office. Make use of what works for you and most importantly – what you will use!!
